Foreign Minister Heraldo Muñoz arrived at the residence of the Embassy of Argentina in Chile today to meet with Ambassador José Octavio Bordón and extend our country's solidarity in the face of the attack that took place yesterday in his offices.

"I would like to express the solidarity and sorrow that the Chilean government feels for this vandal attack against the Argentinean embassy in Chile", said the Minister.

Together with this, the Chancellor declared that Chile completely repudiates the act registered last night, which, he said, "goes against the history of our two countries, goes against international law, against decency, and that is why we express our repudiation of this act of vandalism by those who allegedly protested, abusing democracy, free expression and doing an act of aggression unacceptable to the Chilean government".

In addition, the Minister informed that the government will take a series of protection measures for the Argentinean residence, which are in the hands of the Ministry of Interior. "There are always Carabineros de Ronda but obviously this situation requires special measures", he said, adding that there will be additional measures outside the physical presence.

For his part, Ambassador Bordón said that it was "a minority group that will not obscure or hinder the friendship, trust and common work that we Argentineans and Chileans have".

The diplomat also highlighted the good relations between Chile and Argentina, recalling that a new trade agreement will be signed between both countries in the coming days.
