The Under Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Edgardo Riveros, had a series of meetings in the context of his participation in the VIII Chancellors Meeting of the East Asia-Latin American Cooperation (FEALAC) Forum, which is taking place in the south Korean city of Busan.
The first encounter of the national authority was a meeting with the Korean Chancellor, Kang Kyun-wha, where the Vice-Ministers of Colombia, Salvador, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Venezuela, also took part.
During the appointment, they dealt with different issues of regional interest and they also had time to discuss the bilateral agenda, highlighting the Free Trade Agreement between Chile and Korea. Subsequently, Under Secretary Riveros met with the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Ha Kim Ngoc, with whom they discussed the upcoming visit of President Michelle Bachelet to Vietnam, in the context of the upcoming APEC Summit, that will take place on November in Da Nang. Also, they talked about different measures to increase bilateral cooperation.
Finally, the Under Secretary met with the Korean Vice Minister of Multilateral and Global Affairs, Choi Jong-moon, and with the Korean candidate to General Director of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
Tomorrow, Under Secretary Riveros will take part in the Plenary Session of the VIII Chancellors Meeting of the East Asia-Latin American Cooperation Forum. For Chile, FEALAC is the only mechanism of multilateral dialogue between the two regions, bringing together 20 Latin American countries and 16 from East Asia.
