The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Edgardo Riveros Marín, received in audience the South African Ambassador to Chile, Hilton Fisher, who will close his diplomatic mission on December 15 after more than four years in our country.

Subsequently, he presided over the ceremony in which he decorated the Ambassador with the Order Bernardo O' Higgins, in the Grand Cross. The Undersecretary highlighted that this decoration awarded by Chile is a reflection of the friendship that exists between our countries and the significant contribution to our bilateral relationship on the part of the South African diplomat, who was grateful for the honor.

In his speech, Undersecretary Riveros highlighted the historic and strong ties that exist between Chile and South Africa, with important milestones such as President Bachelet's official visit to that country in 2014.

In turn, he highlighted Ambassador Fisher's commitment in areas such as education, poverty alleviation and cooperation, as well as his work and support in coordinating numerous visits of South African delegations to our country.
